A full breakfast will be provided that we hope you will find delicious. Marie has devoted considerable effort developing a variety of recipes to serve our guests. Because of our intimate size we will make every effort to accommodate any special requests or dietary restrictions that you may have.
Entrance to your 5 room suite is through the sun room door located at the base of the tower. Before you enter the door look to the right and take a peek at the courtyard. The sun room is finished with tongue and groove pine produced in a Vermont saw mill. The floors are made of massaranduba which provides a striking contrast to the pine. There are large windows and sliding glass doors on two walls providing views of the courtyard, and seasonably views of the stream. The room has a Queen sized sofa bed that you may choose to sleep in during warm weather if you want to have the most exposure to the sounds of the stream. The hope chest coffee table and glass top corner table were made by David amost 35 years ago with the help of his Grandpa John. If you feel a chill you can turn on the gas fireplace to enjoy the ambiance and warmth.Living Room
From the sun room you enter the living room which is furnished in two sections. One section is positioned to feature the large wood fireplace, the stone facing was installed by Marie's daughter Tina. The other section is positioned to allow guests to view the 47 inch LED Smart TV with cable and internet access and a Blue Ray DVD Player. In either section you may enjoy the natural hard wood floors made of 5 different species of wood, heated with sub-floor radiant heating. One of the sofas is a queen sized sofa bed providing extra sleeping space year round if required.Dining Room
The dining room is adjacent to the living room and is accessed through the two pocket french doors, it is spacious enough to accommodate a large group but it is all for you. Here also the floor is made of 5 different woods, and at each end of the room the floor contains a diamond design built into the floor. A large picture window in the front allows views of the front gardens, and a double patio door at the back gives views and access to the rear deck. The built in buffet has a sink with an instant hot water dispenser for a quick spot of tea. There is a microwave and coffee maker for your use supplied with complimentary coffee and hot chocholate.Bedroom
From the living room you may walk up the spiral staircase of the tower to the bedroom. (An alternate route is available if you do not wish to ascend spiral stairs) The center column of the spiral stairs is composed of 8X8 hemlock logged and milled in Vermont. A bear and owl carvings adorn the top of the column, created by a local carver. The bed room contains a King sized sleigh bed, a gas fireplace, wine cooler, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator for refreshments medicines or doggy bags, the contents of which you are free to heat using the microwaves provided within the suite. There are numerous windows providing views of the front gardens. Two comfortable chairs and ample lighting provide a restful place to watch the gas fireplace or read. Speaking of reading, on each side of the bed is a Waterford crystal lamp on a night table and swing arm light on the wall at the head of each side of the bed, all individually controlled to provide excellent reading light without disturbing a partner on the other side of the bed.
The bath area of the suite contains a two person rain shower with two shower heads in the ceiling and a wall mounted shower head in case you don't want your hair to get wet. The shower room has a large glass window providing you view of the outside while you shower if you wish, and fully opaque blinds for absolute privacy if you don't. The shower room is also equipped with a steam generator so effective that you will not be able to see your toes after only a few minutes of operation. If steam is not your thing, you may prefer the dry heat of the two person sauna, or simply enjoy the two person jetted spa tub within your bath area for a relaxing soak. Hair dryer, makeup mirror and curling iron are available for use and stored in the vanity under the main sink. Of course there is a private toilet room with a second sink in the bath area.Tower Room
The suite contains a second sitting area accessed by ascending a captains ladder (also called an alternating tread design stair) starting at the top of the spiral staircase. This leads to the tower room with windows positioned on all four walls providing ample light and views. This cozy room has a gas fire place and is a unique place to sit and relax. There is a book rack with numerous books if you are inclined to turn a page or two.Tower Deck
If you enjoy heights and views you may wish to ascend the second captains ladder leading from the tower room to the tower deck. Step out of the sliding glass door on to the deck that is 3 stories above ground in the front, and 4 stories above the courtyard. Don't worry, the glass panels of the railing give you an unobstructed view of the gardens and courtyard below.Rear Deck
The rear deck is accessible from the dining room and the sun room. It provides a mostly shaded place to relax, with views of the rear garden and the sound of the stream below.Courtyard, Patio, Porch and Hot Tub.
The courtyard patio and porch are accessible via the external spiral stairs on the west side of the sun room, from the internal spiral stairs at the living room, or from the back yard. The adjoining patio and covered porch areas provide additional locations to enjoy in any weather. Since they are closer to the stream the sound of running water is more prevalent, and most folks find that enjoyable. A two person Hot Tub is located on the porch deck over looking the stream and is yours exclusively to enjoy year round.
On the far side of the courtyard patio is a set of stairs leading to the system of paths on the property. By following the path westward, which is in the up stream direction, for 601 feet, you will arrive at our private foot bridge curently under construction. When completed it will be a covered bridge 40 feet in length providing a relaxing place to view the waterfall and stream.
Returning downstream and keeping on the path along the stream you will
assend a series of stairs. Approximately 1/2 way up the bank a right branch
of the path brings you down to the pond. This pond was originally intended to
be a small irrigation pond, but as things happen it grew into the pond we have today.
It is unusual because it is protected from wind and sky in the summer,so with a
pair of polarized glasses you can see the fish as you may never have seen fish before.
This year we stocked the pond with 7 rainbow trout 8-10 inches in size on april 30.
The gardens are Marie's creation. Even people that are not gardeners appreciate that there was significant effort involved in creating a beautiful outcome. The rear garden sitting area is close enough to enjoy the sound of the stream and the beauty of the garden.
The front garden has two different sitting areas. The front patio provides views of the raised beds, and the garden patio makes you feel like you are immersed in the garden. All three locations are nice places to sit, converse, read and relax.
